Devils Bridge Rail Trip
( Hover mouse over photo to pause slideshow )
If you like steam trains and stunning
scenery, or even if you are not so passionate about steam trains,
this is a worthwhile day out.
From 'the Hideaway', this is a trip of about one and a half hours
drive up the coast to Aberystwyth, passing through Cardigan and
Aberaeron along the way. The coast route has spectacular views
across Cardigan Bay for most of the journey.
At Aberystwyth you park at the new Vale of Rheidol station to catch
the steam train to Devils Bridge. The trip takes about an hour and
passes through wonderful scenery as you climb up to the Cambrian
Mountains to Devils Bridge station.
At Devils Bridge there is the 'Two Hoots' cafe for a welcome snack
and drinks before exploring The Devils Bridge, with the Punchbowl
and Waterfalls on either side of the road. You need to be quite fit
for the Waterfall and Nature Trail, as there are 675 steps!
